Yellow Canary Tomato is an open-pollinated, determinate cherry tomato variety with bright, canary yellow fruits. This is an early-maturing variety that will produce fruits 55 days from transplanting. The bright yellow fruits average 1" in diameter and are absolutely delicious!

Unlike most cherry tomato varieties, this variety produces determinate, compact plants that are great for containers, hanging baskets or raised bed gardens. The compact plants produce heavy, concentrated yields of cherry tomatoes. And the plants are well-branched to protect the concentrated fruit set from sun damage.

 

Growing Information

Tomatoes are in the nightshade family along with peppers and eggplant. Plants in the nightshade family are susceptible to blossom end rot, which is a result of a calcium deficiency. To prevent or alleviate this problem, apply pelleted gypsum at the base of the plant at bloom set. Tomatoes do best when transplanted, as the germination time can be longer than most vegetable seed. They grow very well in our heavy-duty seed starting trays. Plants should be started 4-6 weeks before the intended outdoor planting date.

If conditions outside are favorable, transplants may be planted directly from our 162 cell trays. If conditions are still too cold for planting tomatoes, transplants may be "stepped-up" to 4" pots to allow more room to grow. Tomatoes can produce heavy fruits and will require some form of support to keep the plant upright. This ensures that plants and fruits stay off the ground, reducing the possibility of disease and keeping fruits clean.

These are such a great tomato. Perfect for small gardens. A very compact plant that doesn't need any staking. It produces far more tomatoes than I would imagine off of a small plant. I love these to give to my friends. Even when it isn't watered regularly, it still does well.

Bought 3 kinds of dwarf tomatoes, started them indoors with the rest of my tomatoes . When it was time to set them out I didn't have room. So I planted them in a flower bed. Finely got around to pulling the grass out of the bed today. Not only did I find my lost plants but they are loaded with tomatoes

I had trouble getting the Yellow Canary seeds to germinate. I did have success on the second try.
