Description

Dwarf Zinnia Mix is a specialized blend of miniature zinnias that grow to 12"-16" tall. This dwarf variety is great for planting in raised beds and containers. It also is deal for planting in borders around the vegetable garden. Also known as "Thumbelina" mix, this variety was an AAS winner in 1963.

Dwarf Zinnia Mix produces loads of blooms in a rainbow of colors, including pink, purple, red, orange, white, and yellow. Zinnias are great for cut flowers and attracting beneficial insects and pollinators to the vegetable garden. Butterflies especially love them! Plant these thick and enjoy the kaleidoscope of blooms in your containers, raised beds, or in-ground garden.

Dwarf Zinnia Mix can be direct-seeded or transplanted. Due to the papery texture of the seed and the oblong seed size, zinnias do not plant well with a walk-behind planter. As a result, direct-seeding must be done by hand. To direct seed, create a small furrow in the soil and scatter the zinnia seed along the furrow. Use a garden rake to lightly cover the seed and pack the planted area. Zinnias grow well when planted on double rows with drip irrigation. Lay one row of drip tape and plant on both sides of the tape to maximize garden space.

Zinnias also perform well when transplanted. They grow great in our heavy-duty seed starting trays. Transplants are ready to go in the ground when plants can be easily pulled from the seed starting trays. Zinnias are very heat-tolerant and will continue to produce throughout the warm months of summer. To maximize production, prune or “dead-head” plants to promote the development of new blooms.

Flower seeds

I received my zinnia seeds and my Marigold seeds in a timely manner. If these seeds are like the ones I got before they will be great. I have not been able to plant them yet because of the weather

I live in zone 8B. I transplanted these in a sunny corner of one of my raised beds after my last frost date. They surprised me blooming very early and continue to bloom beautiful pink flowers. Early blooms were at 6 to 12 inches but have grown taller and new blooms are closer to 18-20 inches. I don't have a problem with that though. I wish I could post a picture but will plant more of this next year.

These are definitely not 3-6 inches tall. My plants are 3-4 FEET tall. I was hoping for some tiny zinnias. They are still gorgeous blooms and keep pollinators buzzing around my vegetables, so that's great.
