ZONE 9

  • Succession planting, Cover Crops
  • Heat-loving favorites to plant now are okra, southern peas, and sweet potatoes
  • Watch for disease and nutritional disorders in tomato plants.
  • Pest Control (squash bugs, Aphids, Corn Worms) Watch for thrips, scale, and mites on plants because they become more active in warm weather.
  • Manage Pollinators

ZONE 8

  • Scouting
  • Sweet Potatoes, Succession planting, Cover Crops, Soybeans
  • Pest Control (squash Bugs, Aphids, Corn Worms)
  • Manage Pollinators
  • Tomatoes – Stay the course, have a trellis system in place for your tomato patch before the plants begin to sprawl.
  • Take care of the Garden, Stay on top of weeds

ZONE 7

  • Planting should be safe to plant transplants outdoors, direct seed
  • Keep hilling potatoes
  • Harvest leafy greens before they bolt
  • Sweet Potato slips when the soil is warm enough
  • Start monitoring for Pest control
  • Fertilization Schedule planning

Last frost date May 1st – First Frost date November 15th, Medium length growing season. Suited to both warm and cold weather plants
