Description

Check out our Corn Growing Guide to learn more about how to grow corn in your garden.

Incredible Sweet Corn has that traditional yellow corn appearance with a remarkable taste to boot. When you think of a fresh ear of sweet corn, this is what you're imagining -- sweet kernels with a rich, corn flavor. Incredible is a yellow, sugary-enhanced (se) variety that has a higher sugar content than standard varieties. It also stores well in cold-storage, usually up to 10 days without compromising flavor. Incredible Sweet Corn produces large, 9.5" ears that have an attractive husk for market stands or fresh delivery. These husks also do a great job of protecting the ears during development.

Sweet corn should be planted in the spring after the last frost date. Sweet corn can be grown throughout the warmer months up until fall, as long as time is permitted for harvest before first frost. Succession planting is recommended with at least two plantings, one in early spring and one in late summer/early fall. Corn ear worm pressure will be greater in the warmer months, but this can be alleviated by applying spinosad to silks and tassels once they appear.

We recommend planting sweet corn using a walk-behind planter like our Hoss Garden Seeder. Once plants emerge, thin plants to 6-8" depending on adequate irrigation. If drip irrigation is used, in-row spacing may be as close as 6". If water is scarce, a wider in-row spacing will be necessary. For pollination purposes, corn should be planted in a square plot with rows on 30-36" spacing. Planting a few long rows will result in poor germination and absence of kernels on the cobs.

We've been growing Incredible since about 2005. It truly is an incredible variety. Each plant has 2 and sometimes even 3 big long ears full to the top with corn. It holds on the stalk and in the fridge without getting starchy. It's productive, bug resistant, disease resistant and it handles just about any soil and weather conditions you can throw at it. Its a tall variety, but it still holds up in the high winds we get around here better than most. We've found it to be great for freezing, canning and eating fresh. Incredible is just incredible in every single way. As you can tell I really really like it. If it has any cons I haven't found them yet. 100% recommend.
