What To Do In Your Garden!

When it comes to gardening, it's crucial to have a clear understanding of your Hardiness Zone. Knowing your Zone will enable you to plan and strategize your winterizing efforts effectively. Here are our best practices for preparing for winter!

  • Clean out annual vegetables and flowers.
  • Remove weeds.
  • Get a soil test.
  • Amend your soil for spring.
  • Replenish mulch.
  • Clean and sharpen tools.
  • Shut off irrigation systems when a freeze is predicted.
  • Cut and dry or freeze remaining herbs.
  • Dig and divide spring and summer flowering perennials.
  • Plant spring flowering bulbs, such as tulips, daffodils and hyacinths.

What Can You Plant?

October is an ideal time for planting cold-season crops. Make sure to consult your frost dates and hardiness zones for the most optimal planting schedule. With a little bit of planning and preparation, you can enjoy a bountiful harvest even during the colder months.
