Be sure to check out our Cucumber Growing Guide to learn more about how you can successfully grow cucumbers at home.

Max Pack Cucumber is a hybrid, pickling variety that has the broadest disease-package of any pickling cucumber. Max Pack is widely-adapted and will perform well in a wide variety of growing zones. The broad disease-resistance makes this a great variety to grow in hot and humid climates where powdery mildew and downy mildew can be a problem.

Max Pack is a very productive variety that produces heavy yields of 4-4.5" pickling cucumbers. If you like making pickles, this is the variety for you! Fruits are consistently-sized and don't get bitter as temperatures warm in early summer. These pickling cucumbers also have a small seed cavity which makes them a great variety for cutting and pickling spears.

Cucumbers perform best when direct seeded. They do not perform as well when transplanted. Cucumbers may be direct-seeded by hand or with a walk-behind seeder. To obtain a good stand of plants, we suggest planting Seeds every 6-8" inches and thinning to one seed per foot.

Cucumbers are a vining plant and grow best when given a trellised structure to climb. Use a strong trellis that is well-supported with deeply driven stakes. Keeping plants off the ground will reduce the potential of plant diseases like mildews and other diseases that can result from excess plant moisture.

Trellising will also keep the fruits cleaner and save time with harvesting and processing. It will also help to prevent fruit discoloration or yellowing from sitting on the soil surface. Our Hortonova Trellis Netting works great for trellising cucumbers and is easy to install.

Seed garden label included in seed pack.

Only cucumber we will grow

We are not big fans of cucumbers. However, I make naturally fermented pickles all summer. I read other reviews and decided to try. They are so crisp, meaty and delicious. They are very prolific too. In fact, we will actually even eat them on salads and such since they are so tasty. We are in zone 8b.

We love pickles

Its February 22 Zone 6b Connecticut and we still have a few jars of pickles on our shelves thanks to MAX PACK. We usually run out of pickles by January.
MAX PACK produces many many cucumbers. Buy your spices now! you will run out when canning :) MAX PACK tastes good, the skin is thicken than beit alpha still tastes great. Truly the broadest disease resistance ever in our garden, plants last well into summer. Made 2nd planting unnecessary. we eat these right from the filled trellised vine. God bless.

Best pickling cucumber out there

This is my 3rd year growing this variety and will be the only pickling variety I grow. I’ve tried others but no other variety stands up to productivity, vigor, and uniformity of cucumbers like Max Pack. Even the parthenocarpic variety I tried earlier this summer wasn’t as productive (or tasty). At some point you just have to stick with what works and not overthink it. Max Pack is all you need for pickles (but it’s a tasty fresh snacking cuke too).
