Be sure to check out our Tomato Growing Guide for tips & tricks on being successful in growing tomatoes at home.

One of the truly great characteristics of the Hossinator (STM2255), though, is that despite being a hybrid, it has the amazing vine-ripe acidic flavor of an heirloom tomato that is difficult to find today. The Hossinator (STM2255) has a medium growth height and produces impressively large fruits that average 8oz - 12oz each with no pruning needed. However, this variety can benefit from pruning to grow truly massive, award-winning tomatoes. If you want to grow huge tomatoes, simply prune suckers from the bottom of the plant up to the 4th limb. Pelleted.

Growing Information

Tomatoes are in the nightshade family along with peppers and eggplant. Plants in the nightshade family are susceptible to blossom end rot, which is a result of a calcium deficiency. To prevent or alleviate this problem, apply pelleted gypsum at the base of the plant at the bloom set. Tomatoes do best when transplanted, as the germination time can be longer than most vegetable Seeds. They grow very well in our heavy-duty seed starting trays. Plants should be started 4-6 weeks before the intended outdoor planting date.

We hope to never be without Hossinator Tomatoes

We have grown and eaten and canned a lot of tomatoes in our lives but this has been the best tomato we have ever had. We actually didn’t think a tomato plant and tomato like this existed. But these plants grow huge and tall and they keep producing way longer than any other variety. The tomatoes are indescribably perfect. They are absolutely gigantic and virtually blemish free and delicious.
They would make the perfect farmers market prize tomato to sell because they are so delicious, so huge and perfectly red and firm that they almost don’t look real! Honestly, they just amazed us and everybody that we shared them with could not get over them. We ordered the plants last year but this year tried the seeds and every one came up. We hope to never be without these in our garden. We live in Southwest Mississippi and tomatoes are very prone to diseases here but not the Hossinator.

Beautiful plant so far

I had 100 percent germination. My plants have just started fruiting and flowering pretty hard . Can't wait to bite into a tomato and taste them. I'm growing them in big containers and in ground. They are going to be big plants.

Every seed germinated

We planted all the seeds in starter pots in a greenhouse. All the seeds germinated. We are going to wait a little longer until they get bigger to transplant into the garden. The seeds had what looked like a thick white coating on the seed. So far, we are very pleased and will order again.
