Glorious Gleam Nasturtium Mix is a 1935 All American Selections Winner that features beautiful double and semi-double blooms in an array of colors like yellow, orange, salmon, and red. These partially climbing plants can be trellised or used as a sprawling ground cover between vegetable plants. Nasturtiums are not only beautiful in the garden but are also one of the most popular edible flowers in the world. The petals and leaves have a mild peppery flavor and the seeds have been used to replace capers in popular dishes. This versatile flower has also been known to deter pests like aphids and whiteflies and make an excellent companion plant and pollinator attractor. Nasturtiums are a great choice for beginner gardeners, as they are very easy to grow, will thrive in even the poorest soil conditions, and are very drought tolerant. Tropaeolum minus. 60 – 70 Days To Maturity.
Glorious Gleam Nasturtium Mix can be direct-seeded or transplanted. However, for best results, we recommend transplanting. This flower variety grows great in our heavy-duty seed starting trays with our Black Gold Seed Starting Mix. Plant one seed per cell and keep soil moist, but not over-saturated. Fertilize seedlings after the appearance of the first true leaves. Plants will be ready to transplant with they can be easily pulled from the cells in the seed tray.
Nasturtium does well when planted in Spring and allowed to bloom into Summer. In spring, plant several weeks before the last frost date. Place transplants 6-12″ apart along the row. Prune blooms (deadhead) for continual performance throughout the growing season.
