Our Cabbage Knife is the premier harvesting tool for cutting cabbage, collards, mustard, turnips or other greens. This harvesting knife is shipped with a razor-sharp blade so it’s ready to use when you receive it. It also includes a sleeve so that the knife and blade can be protected when not in use.
This knife includes a 6″ long blade that is sturdy, yet thin and flexible so it easily slices through large heads of cabbage and collards with thick stems. It has a sharp edge along the entire length of the blade, including the point. This allows you to cut a wide swath when harvesting cut-and-come again greens like our Savanna Mustard or All Top Turnips.
The Cabbage Knife has a blade made of 1095 High Carbon Steel, which is the preferred metal for knives and other cutting tools around the garden and homestead. This metal is easier to sharpen and easier to use than super-hard “surgical steel” that you’ll find on cheaper knives. It also includes a hickory handle which makes the knife easy to grip and comfortable to use for extended periods of time.
Because the blade is made with high-carbon steel, it will rust if exposed to moisture over prolonged periods of time. We recommend storing this harvesting knife in a dry location and periodically applying some mineral oil or linseed oil to the blade for protection and longevity.
