Description

Bachelor Button Polka Dot Mix is an open-pollinated mix of red, rose, blue and lavender flowers. Also known as cornflower, this old-fashioned wildflower variety makes a great cut flower. Bachelor Button is widely-adapted and can be grown in spring/summer in zones 3-10. It can also be fall planted in zones 7-10. This variety is easy to start indoors or in a greenhouse from seed. Bachelor Button Polka Dot Mix enjoys full sun and well-drained soils. Plants average 16" tall and produce a large amount of flowers. This is a great variety for attracting pollinators and beneficial insects to your garden and homestead. Bachelor Button also works great as a wildflower variety planted in large plots for beautiful landscapes. For this application, cultivate the soil, scatter the seed, and cover lightly.

We recommend transplanting Bachelor Button Polka Dot Mix for best results. This flower variety grows great in our heavy-duty seed starting trays with Pro-Mix Organic Seed Starting Mix. Place 1-2 Seeds per cell and dust lightly with finely-ground seed starting mix. Once seedlings emerge, thin to one seed per cell. Transplants may be started a few weeks before the last frost date in spring, but can also be grown anytime throughout the warmer months. Transplants are ready to go in the ground when they can be easily pulled from the seed trays. Plants should be placed in the ground after the last frost date in spring or anytime during the spring, summer or early fall growing periods. Bachelor Button is a warm-weather flower that performs throughout the warmer months. For best results, prune or cut flowers as they bloom. This will ensure the production of continuous blooms throughout the growing season.
