The Acre Homestead Container Collection is a hand-curated, comprehensive collection of our favorite vegetables and flowers for container gardening. These varieties are proven, productive, and best for growing in containers. This collection includes 22 of our most recommended varieties for container gardening. For the tomato and pepper varieties, we recommend planting those from transplants started in seed starting trays.

We suggest using containers that provide a healthier root environment. Root Pouch Grow Bags are non-degradable, BOA-free, and UV resistant. Root Pouch containers allow for the following:

  • Breathable allowing oxygen to reach the roots
  • Superior insulation protects the roots from heat and cold.
  • Weave traps the root tips preventing circling and girdling of the roots, encouraging the plant to produce a dense lateral root structure.
  • Disperses the sun’s rays preventing root tip damage from direct sunlight.

Acre Homestead:

My name is Becky from the Acre Homestead Youtube channel. I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and love everything about it! Although I spent the majority of my 20s working as a dental hygienist, my passion has always been in the kitchen. I love learning how to cook as many things from scratch as possible.

While working as a dental hygienist, my passion for scratch-cooking grew into a passion for knowing where my food comes from. I started sourcing my meats, produce, and dairy from local farmers. I learned how to preserve local foods and build my pantry over the course of five years while we lived in a small suburban home. A couple of years ago, my husband and I had the opportunity to buy a home on a small one-acre parcel of land. This is where I started my homesteading journey and where I decided to grow as much of my food as possible!

In January 2021, I started the Acre Homestead Youtube channel. My initial motivation for the channel was to document my second year of gardening. I never expected the channel to grow as quickly as it has—what started as a personal project grew into a full-time job within a matter of months! I am honored that I get to share my passion for homegrown, homemade, and locally-sourced food with this amazing homesteading community!
