What's Changed with USDA Hardiness Zones?

Hey Neighbor! Today we are shedding some light on some recent changes to the USDA Hardiness Zones! Here in South Georgia, we went from Zone 8 to Zone 9a. Why did the USDA change the Hardiness Zone? The USDA updates the Hardiness Zones based on 30 years of data, which is re-evaluated and revised to ensure accuracy. Let's Grow Together and Get Dirty.

What is a USDA Hardiness Zone?

The USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map is the standard by which gardeners and growers can determine which perennial plants are most likely to thrive at a location. Zones on the map identify the average Annual Extreme Minimal temperature drawn from data over the last 30 years.
